The banana comes in different shapes and sizes. One such unique banana is found in Tonguboc village, Pindiu, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. The banana is grown just as the normal bananas. It grows up and bears the bunch. When it is ready to be harvested the villagers harvest the nice shaped ripe banana and bring to their homes. When the yellow banana is prepared a special attention is put to it. The way of preparation depends on the eating preference. Some villagers want it boiled, others like roasted. The significance of this special banana is the excretion of the waste by the consumers. It is realized that the wastes both excreta and urine will turn yellow. This has medical benefit. The people hypothize that it helps their eye sight. From medical and nutrition research it is found that colored foods have carotene. It has the reduce color blindness and its beta-carotene helps the break down of vitamin A and C.
