Banana is cultivated by its suckers. The suckers are taken to the gardens after clearing, cleaning and holes are dug out. They are planted one each in the holes. The yellow banana is special that the bigger suckers are desirable to plant than the young and thin ones. The planting is done just before the drying season comes to a close. As soon as the wet season sets in the suckers began to produce leaves. The leaves shoot out from the Pseudostem. The crop is one crop that grows without much human attention. The plant reaches maturity after 15 months. The inflorence of the plant began after 15 months. When the fruit begins to show then a close attention to it is required. The bunch of bananas turn dark to yellowish green is the sign of readiness. This particular banana plant has a very big bunches compared to other bananas. It is also kept till the season for planting new crops in the gardens. What the people of Tonguboc called Sa Psci which implies that the yellow banana. In every banana plot of the village the particular banana is grown. It shows its distinction and specialty to the Tonguboc villagers. The banana is reserved for special occasions such as the pig killing, opening of new house, bride payment, Christmas festive, Easter and so on.

Yellow banana for help benefit
The banana comes in different shapes and sizes. One such unique banana is found in Tonguboc village, Pindiu, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. The banana is grown just as the normal bananas. It grows up and bears the bunch. When it is ready to be harvested the villagers harvest the nice shaped ripe banana and bring to their homes. When the yellow banana is prepared a special attention is put to it. The way of preparation depends on the eating preference. Some villagers want it boiled, others like roasted. The significance of this special banana is the excretion of the waste by the consumers. It is realized that the wastes both excreta and urine will turn yellow. This has medical benefit. The people hypothize that it helps their eye sight. From medical and nutrition research it is found that colored foods have carotene. It has the reduce color blindness and its beta-carotene helps the break down of vitamin A and C. Research has to be carried out to investigate the compound present in this particular yellow colored banana. The picture shows a villagers preparing the banana for dinner.
